KRISSY KOBATA RECEIVES A BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT

Recently Krissy Kobata, one of Mixed Match’s main subjects, was told she needed to have a bone marrow transplant ASAP. Krissy was Mixed Marrow’s first searching patient. About 10 years ago Krissy was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and began her search for a perfect marrow match. Thankfully her disease had progressed slowly until this year.

After considering her brother and father as potential partial/haplo matches, her medical team chose a partially matched unrelated donor who was a 9/10 match for Krissy.

On December 1, 2017, Krissy underwent a a life saving bone marrow transplant. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks. Krissy not only was a major role in our documentary, but a huge support from day one and huge inspiration for us.

Please send her your love by leaving her a message on her Team Krissy Facebook page or mail her a get well or holiday greeting, she will be in the hospital a few weeks and would love to hear from you! You can mail cards and letters to Mixed Marrow and we will get them to her:

Mixed Marrow
c/o Multiracial Americans of Southern California
P.O. Box 34305

We hope and pray Krissy’s transplant is successful. We will know more in the coming weeks and will keep people updated on our Facebook page Mixed Match. December 1st is now her new birthday and we are extremely grateful for her lifesaver donor!

Please consider registering to your national registry in hopes of saving more lives.
